Kolla and Zero Mission
As digital product passports (DPP) gain ground, the DPP-service provider Kolla and climate-calculation experts Zero Mission have partnered to provide companies requiring DPP’s with a full service of calculating emissions and adding this information into branded digital product passports.
“Most potential clients we speak to have about 70-80% of the data required for DPP today” says Colm O’Callaghan, MD of Kolla.
“But they are often lacking data around environmental impact,” he adds.
“This is one of the areas where many companies need support and we see that Zero Mission provides an excellent partner for us in this respect.”
The EU has, so far, only established the so-called ‘delegated acts’ (or exact requirements) needed for batteries but every other industry is awaiting news. However, there is a broad understanding that CO2 emissions will be required per product and that a cradle-to-gate assessment will be required. This may vary between product categories but calculating emissions at some level is almost certainly going to be required. Water and chemical usage is also likely to be needed.
For Zero Mission, the benefits of the Kolla partnership are equally useful.
“When a company has gone to the efforts of gathering solid climate calculation data, then it’s important that this information is communicated in a way that can actually have an impact. Kolla is an excellent platform for turning raw data required into something tangible, understandable and even inspiring.” “We want to see companies gaining a commercial advantage for doing the right thing. The ones that are accurately measuring their CO2 emissions and showing how they are reducing those figures are ones that we want to see thrive.”
Kolla’s platform is designed to create a brand experience with every digital product passport and deal with the large amount of data required for DPP in an easy-to-consume way.
When it comes to digital product passports, Kolla has now an extensive network of consultants and advisors and climate-calculation experts to help companies in the data gathering stages of digital product passports. Beyond that, Kolla is also partnering with traceability experts PSQR so that customers can customers who are skilled at data modelling as well as other PIM systems.
